Hello and Welcome

We are a small friendly society and aim to preserve, promote and grow the numbers of the breed.

Traditionally, the Breed was native to the Welsh Counties of Radnorshire, Breconshire, Monmouthshire, also crossing over the border into Herefordshire. Unfortunately, this localisation and other factors led to Hill Radnors coming under the protection of the Rare Breeds Survival Trust in 1993 when they were classified as Category 3, Vulnerable.

In recent years, with the dedicated work and efforts of breeders, ewe numbers have increased from this all time low and the breed has moved up into Category 4, At Risk. We now have a growing number of Breed Society members and many new flocks establishing themselves outside their original locality. This renewed interest in the breed is very welcome and we look forward to continuing growth and moving up into Category 5, Minority breeds.
